The 2024 Dow Championship on the LPGA schedule is shaping up to be a tight race with five teams tied for the lead at 12 under after 36 holes. The switch to the fourball format (best ball) after a day of foursomes (alternate shot) has brought more teams into contention, with some notable scores from top players in the field. The Danish duo of Nicole Broch Estrup and Nanna Koerstz Madsen posted a stellar 10-under 60 to join the group at the top of the leaderboard, while Celine Boutier and Yuka Saso carded the low round of the week with a 58, tying the tournament’s 18-hole fourball scoring record.

Among other notable scores, Brooke Henderson and Lexi Thompson, Atthaya Thitikul and Ruoning Yin, Nasa Hataoka and Jin Young Ko, as well as Danielle Kang and Lydia Ko, all sit in contention at 10 under or better. With a $3 million purse at stake, including a first-place team prize of $732,165, the competition is fierce as the field was cut to the low 33 teams and ties after 36 holes. Some top players, including the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA winner, missed the cut and will be heading home early.

While the competition is heating up on the course, team golf has a special allure that brings out the best in players. The Dow Championship has been a springboard for winning teams in the past editions, with LPGA members on the winning team receiving a two-year winner’s exemption and official CME points and prize money. However, certain awards and rankings points, such as Rolex Player of the Year and U.S. Solheim Cup points, will not be allocated during this event.

The tournament is being held at Midland Country Club in Midland, Michigan, playing at 6,256 yards this week. Teams are battling it out in a format that combines individual skill with collaborative teamwork, showcasing the talent and camaraderie of the LPGA players. With the leaderboard packed with top contenders and the purse at stake, the competition is sure to intensify as the weekend progresses. Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of the 2024 Dow Championship as the teams fight for victory and a share of the prize money in this prestigious event on the LPGA tour.
