The PGA Tour’s ISCO Championship in Kentucky saw some impressive scoring from players like Rafa Cabrera Bello, Michael Kim, Chesson Hadley, and Wesley Bryan, who all managed to shoot under par in the first two rounds of the tournament. However, despite their strong performances, they all missed the cut due to the unusually low cut line of eight under par. This new record-setting cut line is the lowest in relation to par on the PGA Tour since the detailed record-keeping began in 1970.

The previous record for the lowest cut in relation to par was set at the 2020 Shriners Children’s Open, but the ISCO Championship has now surpassed that with its eight-under-par cut line. A total of 66 professionals and one amateur managed to make the cut at this event, making it the lowest 36-hole cut relative to par in an individual stroke-play event on the PGA Tour on record. This low cut line has sparked reactions from players and fans alike, with many expressing surprise and disbelief at the ease of scoring at the tournament.

The record-breaking cut line at the ISCO Championship comes amidst a trend of record-low scoring on the PGA Tour in recent events. Two 59s have been recorded, and winning scores of 20 under or better have been achieved in two of the last three tournaments since the U.S. Open. The Rocket Mortgage Classic, in particular, saw challenging conditions on Sunday due to a cold front, making scoring more difficult for players.

Despite the challenging conditions at some events, the trend of low scoring has continued on the PGA Tour, with only three rounds over 70 in the last five tournaments. The winning score at the Rocket Mortgage Classic was 18 under, further highlighting the trend of high-scoring events on the Tour. Meanwhile, at the ISCO Championship, Pierceson Coody took the lead after the first two rounds with impressive scores of 61 and 67, setting the stage for a potentially record-breaking performance.

Heading into the third round of the ISCO Championship, Coody held a commanding lead at 16 under, but his position at the top of the leaderboard was soon challenged by Sam Baristow, who shot a third-round 10-under 62 to reach 18 under. With Coody still hours away from teeing off for his third round, the competition at the tournament was heating up, with players vying for the top spot on the leaderboard. The low cut line and impressive scoring at the ISCO Championship have made it a memorable event for players and fans alike, showcasing the talent and skill of the competitors on the PGA Tour.
