Lauren Coughlin and John Pond, who met at a football Christmas party at the University of Virginia, are currently at the Amundi Evian Championship. Pond, a former football player, is now caddying for Coughlin, who is one shot off the lead in the tournament. The couple got engaged in 2016 after Coughlin won her first individual title and Pond proposed at the ACC Championship. Pond recently quit his job to travel full-time with Coughlin on the LPGA.

Coughlin, who is currently ranked 56th in the world and is a rookie on the LPGA, has seen recent success with an improved short game. She hired Terry McNamara as her caddy after Pond took a break from caddying for her. Coughlin made the cut at the Amundi Evian Championship for the first time in four appearances, showcasing her dedication to working on hitting off uneven lies for the hilly course. She also tied for third at the Chevron Championship earlier this season with Pond on the bag.

Coughlin, who is currently on the cusp of making the Team USA Solheim Cup, has a dedicated fanbase through No Laying Up’s Young Hitters program and carries the NLU logo on her bag. Despite not being a household name, Coughlin’s talent and hard work have put her in contention to win a major. She won the 2018 PCH Classic on the Symetra Tour and is now aiming for success on the LPGA.

Throughout her career, Coughlin has shown steady improvement in her game and has overcome challenges to stay competitive on the tour. Her strong ball-striking abilities paired with her improved short game have been key factors in her recent success. From fighting to keep her tour card to now being in contention to win major championships, Coughlin’s journey showcases her resilience and determination to succeed in professional golf.

Overall, Lauren Coughlin’s career has been marked by growth, dedication, and passion for the game. With John Pond by her side as her caddy and biggest supporter, Coughlin is making a name for herself in the world of professional golf. As she continues to hone her skills and compete against the best in the sport, there’s no doubt that we’ll be seeing more of Lauren Coughlin on leaderboards and in contention for major titles.
