Tiger Woods has returned to Royal Troon to prepare for the British Open after missing the championship in two of the past three years. Despite missing the cut at the Old Course in St. Andrews in 2022, Woods has a successful history at the British Open, winning in 2000, 2005, and 2006. His last Open at Royal Troon was in 2004 when he tied for ninth place. In 1997, he tied for 24th place at the same venue. Woods was injured in 2016 and did not play at Troon when Henrik Stenson won.

During his practice round at Royal Troon, Woods played all 18 holes with caddie Lance Bennett while being followed by hundreds of fans. He is set to continue his preparations by playing alone on Monday and joining Max Homa and Justin Thomas on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Woods will also speak to the media at 4 pm ET. This would be the first time since 2019 that Woods will play all four major championships in a year.

In 2020, Woods played three majors due to the British Open being cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Woods finished 60th at the Masters, setting a record by making his 24th straight cut at Augusta National. However, he missed the cut in both the PGA Championship and U.S. Open. In 2024, Woods has only played nine competitive rounds so far.

Despite his recent struggles, Woods remains a fan favorite and his return to Royal Troon has generated significant interest from fans and media alike. His presence at the British Open is sure to attract a lot of attention as he looks to add another major championship to his impressive resume. As one of the greatest golfers of all time, Woods’s return to form is eagerly anticipated by fans and competitors alike. His performance at Royal Troon will be closely watched by golf enthusiasts around the world.
