United States Presidents have a long history of playing golf, with the most recent attention on President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential debate. The debate took an interesting turn when the two leaders engaged in a back-and-forth discussion about their golfing abilities. In light of this, Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz, co-hosts of GOLF Subpar, sought the opinion of media personality Bret Baier, who is also an author of multiple books on individual presidents and a former collegiate golfer with a 2.7 handicap index. Baier did not hesitate to declare Trump as the best golfer among the current and former presidents, citing Trump’s extensive experience on the course and his known passion for the game.

Baier highlighted the golfing experiences of the last six presidents, including Biden, Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush. While all of these presidents have spent significant time playing golf during and after their presidencies, Baier specifically pointed out Trump as the most skilled golfer among them. Trump, who holds the record for the most rounds played while in office and owns numerous golf courses worldwide, is considered by Baier to be superior even to President Eisenhower, a member of Augusta National. Additionally, Baier shared an interesting anecdote about George W. Bush, noting his fast-paced style of play that even caught professional golfers like Knost off guard.

In a behind-the-scenes glimpse, Knost recounted his encounter with President George W. Bush, who urged him to pick up the pace during a game at a course in Dallas. Bush’s swift playing style was reminiscent of his father, George H. W. Bush, known for his quick rounds on the course. This unexpected interaction left Knost impressed by the former president’s golfing prowess and efficiency on the course. Baier’s insights shed light on the various golfing personalities of the US presidents and their unique styles of play, showcasing their shared love for the game.

As an experienced golfer and author with a deep understanding of presidential history, Baier’s perspective on the golfing abilities of the US presidents offers valuable insights into their recreational pursuits and personal interests. His admiration for Trump’s golfing skills, coupled with amusing anecdotes about other presidents, adds a humanizing element to these political figures. By exploring the intersection of golf and politics, Baier and his co-hosts explore a different side of these leaders, showcasing their competitive spirits and camaraderie on the golf course. The fusion of sports and politics in the realm of golf provides a fascinating lens through which to view the presidents as individuals with diverse interests and talents beyond their political roles.

In the landscape of US presidential history, golf has emerged as a common pastime that transcends political boundaries and unites leaders across generations. The shared enthusiasm for golf among the last six presidents underscores the enduring appeal of the sport and its ability to foster connections among individuals from diverse backgrounds. Through Baier’s expert analysis and firsthand experiences with these presidents, viewers gain a deeper appreciation for their golfing prowess and the friendly rivalries that unfold on the fairways. By celebrating the presidents’ golfing accomplishments and unique playing styles, Baier and his co-hosts offer a fresh perspective on these influential figures and their shared passion for the game.
