Bryson DeChambeau and Beau Welling to lead UnderPar Life event in El Paso

UnderPar Life, a competitor to Topgolf, is set to open its second location at Horizon Golf Course in El Paso, Texas. The company, backed by golf star Bryson DeChambeau and architect Beau Welling, plans to expand to 30 locations nationwide. The new facility will be a two-story, 12,000-square-foot venue featuring a 300-yard driving range, a golf instruction academy, a “tour-level” short game and practice area, and a bar and restaurant.

Company co-founder David Deering expressed excitement about the location, stating that municipalities are supportive of their concept and are offering favorable 99-year leases in exchange for building on their golf courses. This allows them to avoid spending exorbitant amounts on land acquisition. The construction timeline is estimated to be between 18 and 24 months, with a groundbreaking date yet to be set.

Horizon Golf Club’s head pro, Luis Delgadillo, highlighted the partnership with UnderPar Life as a means to grow the game of golf. They aim to expand their free youth programs and provide their top players with access to world-class practice facilities. This aligns with the mission of the club to promote the sport and attract new enthusiasts.

In comparison, El Paso’s existing Topgolf facility opened in 2018 and has been popular among both golfers and non-golfers. UnderPar Life aims to target a similar market of patrons looking for a fun and engaging golfing experience. With the backing of prominent figures like DeChambeau and Welling, the company is positioning itself as a strong competitor in the entertainment space.

The expansion plans of UnderPar Life indicate a growing interest in recreational golf experiences that cater to a diverse audience. By offering a range of amenities and activities, including instruction programs and dining options, the company seeks to create a welcoming environment for both seasoned players and newcomers to the sport. This strategy aligns with broader efforts to make golf more accessible and inclusive.

As the project moves forward, it will be important to track its impact on the local community and the golfing industry as a whole. The success of UnderPar Life’s model could set a new standard for golf entertainment venues and inspire similar initiatives in other regions. With a focus on innovation and accessibility, the company is poised to make a significant impact on the golfing landscape in El Paso and beyond.
