Increase Your Power and Distance Off the Tee with This Stretch

If you struggle with distance off the tee and want to hit the ball farther, consider incorporating a simple stretch into your pre-round routine. This easy stretch, recommended by GOLF Top 100 Teacher Joey Wuertemberger, can help you create more width in your swing, ultimately leading to increased clubhead speed and longer drives. Without proper width in your swing, you may find yourself consistently falling short of your desired distance, regardless of how fast you swing your arms.

To perform this stretch, start by securing an exercise band under your front foot and wrapping the other end under your grip. As you swing back, focus on creating as much tension in the band as possible by turning your shoulders rather than just lifting your arms. This movement helps you generate more power in your swing and encourages a wider arc, which is crucial for maximizing distance off the tee.

After completing the backswing portion of the stretch, switch the band to your back foot and swing into a mock follow-through. Again, the goal here is to stretch the band as much as possible without allowing your elbows to flare out. By maintaining proper width throughout both sides of impact, you can increase your clubhead speed without needing to swing harder. This subtle adjustment can lead to significant improvements in your overall driving distance.

Joey Wuertemberger, a GOLF Top 100 Teacher, shares this effective stretching technique with golfers looking to enhance their performance on the course. Operating out of The Crown Golf at Texas Rangers GC in Arlington, Texas, Wuertemberger is dedicated to helping players of all skill levels reach their full potential. With his expertise and guidance, golfers can improve their distance off the tee and enhance their overall game.

Incorporating stretching exercises like the one recommended by Wuertemberger into your routine can have a positive impact on your golf game. By focusing on creating width in your swing and generating more power through proper body mechanics, you can unlock your full potential on the course. Whether you’re a beginner looking to increase your distance or an experienced player aiming to fine-tune your swing, these simple stretches can help you achieve your goals and improve your overall performance.

Remember, hitting the ball farther isn’t just about swinging harder – it’s about maximizing efficiency and power through proper technique and mechanics. By working on developing a wider swing arc and increasing clubhead speed through stretching exercises, you can enhance your driving distance and find more success on the course. With the guidance of Joey Wuertemberger and other top instructors, golfers can achieve significant improvements in their game and enjoy a more fulfilling golfing experience.
