Titleist has recently launched their new fairway wood lineup, consisting of two models, the GT2 and GT3, with prices starting at $399 and $599 respectively. These clubs will be available through Fairway Jockey starting on 8/23. The principal product manager for metalwoods at Titleist, Tom Bennett, emphasizes the importance of key aspects like flight, face, form, feel, and function in the development of these clubs. The main goal for the GT2 and GT3 fairway woods was to achieve better flight compared to their predecessors, the TSR2 and TSR3 models.

One of the key innovations in the GT fairway woods is the Seamless Thermoform Crown, which replaced internal crown structure to lower the center of gravity (CG) and increase launch without adding spin. The weight savings from the new crown material allowed Titleist to shift the CG in the GT2 model for higher launch and reduced spin. For the GT3 model, the CG was lowered slightly to increase launch while maintaining similar spin rates. The L-Cup face design on both models helps improve performance on low-face strikes by preserving ball speed and enhancing feel.

The GT2 fairway wood is designed for high-launching distance, with a deeper, more forward CG position that generates maximum distance through higher launch and lower spin. The forged L-Cup face design enhances performance on low-center impacts, while the redesigned internal hosel improves weight distribution for better overall performance. The GT3 fairway wood offers a balance of flight control and speed through dynamic adjustability, with an ultra-low CG for high trajectory and inertia.

The two models, GT2 and GT3, offer different profiles to cater to varying player preferences. The shallower profile of the GT2 is ideal for golfers with a sweeping delivery, while the taller face of the GT3 offers greater impact location and differentiation between models. Both models come in multiple loft options and feature a redesigned internal hosel for improved performance. Shaft options are available at different price points, with premium Graphite Design shafts offered in the higher-priced models.

Overall, Titleist’s new GT2 and GT3 fairway woods offer advanced technologies and design features to enhance performance and provide golfers with options to suit their playing style. With a focus on flight, feel, and function, these clubs are designed to deliver consistent speed, trajectory, and distance on every swing. Golfers looking to upgrade their fairway woods for 2024 can consider the GT2 and GT3 models for a blend of performance and customization options.
