Review of the PXG 0311 P Gen 7 Iron

PXG has recently launched the 0311Gen 7 P, one of three new irons from the brand, with the aim of becoming one of the best players’ distance irons in the market. These irons are designed to offer an attractive playing profile, good distance output, and above all, consistency in performance. The technology behind the PXG 0311Gen 7 P includes pushing the C.O.R. number to the limit to produce their longest and most forgiving irons yet. With features such as the thinnest face in golf, QuantumCOR internal polymer, internal and external tungsten weighting, and a lightweight titanium insert, the irons aim to increase MOI and optimize CG positioning.

The PXG 0311Gen 7 P irons have a visually appealing playing position, with minimal offset in the shorter irons and a more noticeable level in the mid-long irons. The profile of the head is generous without looking cumbersome, framing the ball nicely at address. While the branding on the back of the irons may be divisive due to its boldness, the premium touches such as etched lines and brushed finish place them among the best PXG golf clubs for looks.

Performance-wise, testing the PXG 0311Gen 7 P irons at Saunton Golf Club showed impressive results. The irons produced consistent mid-level flight windows and carried numbers, even with questionable strikes. The irons also displayed straight ball flights, masking misses effectively. Despite not having the soft feel of some PXG models, the more solid and robust strike sensation was enjoyable.

A notable feature of the PXG 0311Gen 7 P irons is the interchangeable titanium weight on the back, allowing for fine-tuning and testing swing weight variations during a fitting session. This option is not commonly found in many irons, making it a valuable addition for customization. Overall, the irons offer a combination of character, looks, consistency, and forgiveness that will appeal to both PXG enthusiasts and those seeking high-performance irons.

The PXG 0311Gen 7 P irons are available in two finishes, Chrome and Xtreme Dark, with a slight price difference between the two. The chrome option is priced at $229.99/£209 per club, while the Xtreme Dark option is slightly higher at $239.99/£219. With their advanced technology, impressive performance, and customizable features, the PXG 0311Gen 7 P irons are poised to make a mark in the market as top players’ distance irons.
