Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta in California is making a come back after being unwatered and unmaintained for close to two years. The course was bought out of bankruptcy by the Trilogy homeowner’s association and is expected to be playable by mid-November of this year. The course was once the host of The Skins Game and saw appearances by top golfers like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Annika Sorenstam. However, neglect and lack of maintenance led to cracked putting surfaces, overgrown rough, and grey fairways.

The restoration process includes replacing irrigation heads, updating the greens, and reshaping bunkers to make the course more playable. The architect working on the updates, Gary Brawley, is focusing on expanding the Bermuda greens to their original size and improving the overall aesthetics of the course. Integrity Golf Course Construction is handling most of the renovation work, aiming to salvage all 18 greens for consistency when the course reopens. The goal is to create a playable course that will continue to improve over time.

The challenges in restoring the course include clearing overgrown weeds and landscaping that died due to lack of maintenance. The clubhouse, restaurant, and pro shop building also require renovation and are expected to be ready for the upcoming season. The restaurant, named Kitchen 1011, pays homage to the 1,011 homes at Trilogy that voted for assessments to buy the property. The course aims to attract outside play and position itself as a great alternative to neighboring courses like PGA West.

The focus is on revitalizing the greens, updating the irrigation system, and enhancing the overall appeal of Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. With the efforts of the Trilogy homeowner’s association and BlueStar Resort and Golf, the course is expected to be ready for membership and outside play soon. The restoration process involves collaboration with experienced architects and contractors to ensure the course meets the standards of a playable and enjoyable golf experience for both members and visitors. As work continues on the course and facilities, the team remains optimistic about the future of Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta.
