The Callaway Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons are the successors to the 2021 Apex, Apex Pro, and Apex DCB models. These new irons have been given a back-to-the-drawing-board upgrade, with the Ai200 serving as a “players distance” iron and the Ai300 as a “game-improvement” club similar to the DCB. Callaway engineers focused on elevating the look, feel, and consistency of the Apex lineup, which were already top performers in the Best Irons series.

The reimagined designs of the Ai200 and Ai300 irons include a cleaner and sleeker Apex design with a fully forged construction using hard steel faces and soft steel bodies for superior feel. The Ai Smart Face technology, powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence, optimizes spin and launch consistency across the face while reducing hot spots. The Forged 455 Face Cup design enhances ball speed, and strategically positioned MIM weighting dial in launch and spin for improved overall performance.

The Callaway Apex Ai200 is a mid-launching iron with a hollow-body construction, a thinner topline and sole, and a more compact design compared to the Ai300. On the other hand, the Callaway Apex Ai300 is built for forgiveness with a cavity back design, thicker topline and sole, and a larger profile than the Ai200. Both models aim to deliver distance without sacrificing feel and consistency, catering to different player preferences and skill levels.

According to Zack Oakley, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Irons at Callaway, the Apex Performance Series aims to set a new standard for players seeking an elevated look and feel, superior consistency, and optimal performance. The Apex Ai irons feature a soft carbon steel body for premium feel and a high-strength face for industry-leading ball speeds. The AI Smart Face technology focuses on optimizing spin and launch for healthy ball flights and consistent carry distances.

Club Junkie’s take on the Apex Ai200 irons highlights their sleek design, soft feel, forgiveness, and controlled ball flight. The Apex Ai300 irons, on the other hand, are praised for offering performance, feel, and forgiveness in a larger game improvement profile. Both models are set for pre-sale on 8/15 and retail availability on 8/23, priced at $1,400 for a 7 piece set ($200 per club). Whether you’re a better player looking for distance with feel or an average golfer seeking forgiveness and straight shots, the Callaway Apex Ai irons have something to offer.
