London Golf Club recently hosted the inaugural London Golf Club G4D Shield, which saw some of the leading golfers with disabilities competing on the prestigious International Course. The event took place from August 6-8 and featured a field of 30 golfers from six different nations, all vying for the coveted title over 36 holes. Issa Nlareb emerged as the winner after a stellar performance, finishing one shot ahead of the runner-up Jack McCrindle.

Ben Stimson, the director of golf at London Golf Club, expressed his pride and honor in hosting the event and witnessing the incredible talent and determination displayed by the participants. He commended the golfers for their commitment and skill on the course, and looks forward to welcoming the EDGA Tour back to London Golf Club in 2025. Nlareb, the first Cameroonian to compete in the US Adaptive Open, shared his gratitude for the opportunity to play in England and on the beautiful golf course.

In the lead-up to the event, London Golf Club and EDGA promoted inclusivity and accessibility for golfers with disabilities in the Kent region. Coaching was provided to London Golf Club’s PGA professional Paul Stuart to ensure that the club is equipped to provide lessons to golfers with disabilities. Free golf lessons were also offered to local children and adults with disabilities, further increasing access to the sport.

Dr. Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, praised London Golf Club for their support and collaboration in hosting the event. He emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for golfers with disabilities to participate and compete in the sport, and commended the club for their inclusive approach. The success of the London Golf Club G4D Shield is expected to attract more participants in future events, with a high level of interest anticipated for the 2025 edition.

The event was a testament to the talent and resilience of golfers with disabilities, showcasing their abilities and determination on the international stage. The competition provided a platform for these individuals to demonstrate their skills and passion for the game, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in the golfing community. London Golf Club’s partnership with EDGA exemplifies their commitment to supporting golfers of all abilities and promoting diversity within the sport.

Overall, the inaugural London Golf Club G4D Shield was a resounding success, drawing in participants from around the world and fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among golfers with disabilities. The event served as a celebration of talent, perseverance, and sportsmanship, underlining the transformative power of golf to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds. As London Golf Club looks ahead to future editions of the event, the legacy of the G4D Shield continues to inspire and empower golfers with disabilities to pursue their passion for the game.
