Eric Cole started the final round of the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis with a lot of ground to make up after shooting a 72 in the third round. Despite not having high expectations for the day, he quickly turned things around with a strong start, posting birdie-birdie-eagle and a 30 on the front nine. Cole continued his strong play with three more birdies on the back nine, but found the water on the 18th hole, putting his chances of advancing in jeopardy. However, he bounced back with a clutch 15-foot bogey putt to close with a 63, tying for the low round of the day.

Cole’s impressive performance moved him up the leaderboard to finish T-18 for the tournament and improved his position in the season-long points race to No. 46. Despite originally planning to fly home to Florida early in the day, Cole’s plans were rerouted, and he is now headed to Colorado for the next leg of the playoffs at the BMW Championship. His mother, former LPGA pro Laura Baugh, took to social media to congratulate him on his fantastic round and hard work paying off.

The dramatic turn of events for Cole highlights the excitement and unpredictability of the FedEx Cup playoffs. With players jockeying for position in the points race, every round becomes crucial in determining who will advance to the next stage. Cole’s resilience and ability to stay focused under pressure allowed him to secure his spot in the next tournament and continue his quest for FedEx Cup glory.

In a post-round interview, Cole expressed his appreciation for the drama and tension that the FedEx Cup playoffs bring to the game. He emphasized the uncertainty of where players will stand in the rankings and the thrill of watching the final stretch of tournaments unfold. With the stakes high and the competition fierce, Cole’s performance serves as a reminder of the excitement and unpredictability that the FedEx Cup playoffs bring to the PGA Tour.

As Cole reflects on his impressive round and unexpected journey to the next stage of the playoffs, he credits his hard work and dedication to his success. His ability to bounce back from adversity and deliver a clutch performance when it mattered most showcases his resilience and mental toughness on the course. With the support of his family and fans behind him, Cole is now focused on continuing to elevate his game and make a run at the FedEx Cup title.

Overall, Eric Cole’s remarkable turnaround at the FedEx St. Jude Championship exemplifies the thrilling and unpredictable nature of the FedEx Cup playoffs. His ability to overcome obstacles and deliver a standout performance when it mattered most has solidified his position in the season-long points race and propelled him to the next stage of the playoffs. As Cole prepares to face off against the best players in the world at the BMW Championship, the golfing world will be watching to see if he can maintain his momentum and make a push for FedEx Cup glory.
