Team Announcement for Women’s PGA Cup

The Great Britain & Ireland team for the 2024 Women’s PGA Cup has been announced by the PGA. Led by captain Cathy Panton-Lewis, the team includes Holly Morgan, Heather MacRae, Ali Gray, Marie Martindale, and Suzanne Dickens. Morgan and MacRae secured their spots through the Women’s PGA Professional Championship, while Gray and Martindale claimed their spots through the final qualifying event. Dickens was selected as the fifth player by the captain to complete a strong line-up for the competition taking place at Sunriver Resort in Oregon, USA from October 3-5.

The Women’s PGA Cup is a prestigious event where teams of five PGA Members from different countries compete against each other over three days. Each team member plays 18 holes each day, with the lowest three scores counting towards the team total. The team with the lowest 54-hole aggregate scores emerges as the winner. Panton-Lewis expressed her excitement about the team’s experience and talent, hoping they will secure victory. She emphasized the importance of helping the players perform at their best while keeping the atmosphere fun and enjoyable for them.

Hampstead Golf Club PGA Professional Marie Martindale will be making her debut in the Women’s PGA Cup alongside experienced players like Heather MacRae, Alison Gray, and Suzanne Dickens. The team represents a combination of seasoned players and promising talents, with Martindale and Morgan bringing valuable experience from their time at American colleges. Panton-Lewis highlighted the importance of keeping the competition enjoyable for the players and not letting nerves affect their performance. She is confident that they have the best five players to compete for victory at the event.

The GB&I team will be competing against PGA Professional counterparts from the United States, Canada, Sweden, South Africa, and Australia in the 2024 Women’s PGA Cup. The event aims to showcase the skills and talents of female PGA Members from around the world and provide a platform for them to compete at a high level. The team has been carefully selected based on their performance in the qualifying events leading up to the competition, with captain Panton-Lewis ensuring a strong and competitive line-up for the tournament.

The Women’s PGA Cup is a prestigious event in the golfing calendar, providing female PGA Members with the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage. The competition format is designed to test the players’ abilities over three days of intense competition, with the ultimate goal of securing victory for their team. The GB&I team, led by captain Cathy Panton-Lewis, is looking forward to the challenge and is determined to perform at their best in order to bring home the trophy.
