Lydia Ko is on fire, showing no signs of slowing down as she took the lead at the 2024 Kroger Queen City Championship with a second-round 66, bringing her total score to 11 under heading into the weekend. Despite her impressive performance, Jeeno Thitikul managed to slip ahead by one shot with a score of 12 under after shooting her second straight 66.

Ko’s recent success follows a string of top-10 finishes, including a win at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open at St. Andrews and a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Reflecting on her achievements, Ko shared, “Every week it’s been incremental improvement. You hope to pull it off one week, and it happened to be two of the biggest weeks in my schedule this year.” Her win at the Olympics also secured her entry into the LPGA Hall of Fame, and her victory at the Women’s Open marked her third career major win.

With her eyes set on her 22nd LPGA win and third victory this season, Ko emphasized the importance of smart club selection and staying focused on her game plan. She explained, “Being smart with the club selection off the tee and just knowing which ones I should be aggressive and which ones I should be a little bit more conservative. I feel like I set myself a good plan going into the week so that’s what I’m going to stick to.”

As the golf course conditions become firmer due to the warm weather, Ko remains focused on executing her strategy and trusting her game. She highlighted the significance of staying focused on herself and her game, which has been a key factor in her recent success. Ko’s consistency and dedication to improvement have been evident in her performance over the past month, and she is determined to continue building on her success.

With Ko’s solid play and determination, she is poised for a strong finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship. Her impressive track record and recent victories have solidified her status as one of the top players on the LPGA Tour. As she competes for her third win of the season, all eyes will be on Ko as she seeks to add another title to her impressive collection.
