The PGA Tour has recently started highlighting the drama of Friday cuts, leading to suspense-filled moments for players like Kihei Akina, who fought to make the cut in the Black Desert Classic. Daniel Berger’s strong finish helped him make the cut, while Justin Lower’s missed eagle putt left him disappointed. The delayed cut brought additional drama on Saturday, with Wesley Bryan’s eagle putt securing his spot in the weekend round. In the end, 69 players advanced to the weekend, leaving some notable names heading home early.

Rafael Campos’ valiant effort fell short as he missed the cut by one stroke despite shooting 4 under for 36 holes. Peter Malnati’s struggles continued with another missed cut, extending his streak of poor performances. Mike Weir’s promising start in the first round faltered in the second, leading to his elimination from the tournament. Luke List’s ongoing struggle with missed cuts persisted, while Taylor Montgomery’s round derailed after a strong start.

Camilo Villegas’ disappointing season continued with another missed cut, making it his 12th straight. Keith Mitchell’s inconsistent play led to another missed cut, following a near-miss at the previous tournament. Kevin Kisner’s tee-to-green struggles contributed to his third consecutive missed cut, adding to his season of disappointment. Jay Don Blake marked his 500th PGA Tour start with a missed cut but reflected on his career with gratitude.

Utah native Patrick Fishburn missed the cut in the Black Desert Championship despite playing in his home state. A cold putter and off-target iron play contributed to his early exit from the tournament. The continued emphasis on Friday cut drama by the PGA Tour has added excitement and tension to the competition while showcasing the resilience and disappointments of players striving to make the weekend rounds. Fans can expect more nail-biting moments and unexpected outcomes as the season progresses, highlighting the unpredictable nature of professional golf tournaments.
