The newly constructed Crimson Reserve practice facility for the University of Alabama men’s and women’s golf teams is being praised as “sick” by both players and coaches. The $47 million project includes a 9-hole course and a large practice area for driving, short game, and putting outdoors, as well as separate lounges, locker rooms, hitting bays, and swing technology indoors. UA Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, men’s coach Jay Seawell, and women’s coach Mic Potter led a tour of the facility, which has garnered attention across college golf.

The indoor facility spans 18,000 square feet and features coaches’ offices, workout facilities, and player-focused areas such as hitting bays with swing technology and mechanical putting greens. The unique design allows garage-style lift doors to open the indoor hitting bays to the outdoor range, providing players with the opportunity to practice in various weather conditions. Seawell and Potter emphasized that having a dedicated facility solely for the university’s golf teams is rare in college programs and sets Crimson Reserve apart.

Former Alabama golfers, including PGA Tour champion Justin Thomas, contributed to the design of the facility and are honored on the walls with photos of their achievements. Seawell mentioned that Thomas has yet to visit the completed construction but is eager to give him a tour. The high praise for Crimson Reserve extends to Seawell’s belief that it is the best practice facility globally, surpassing even prestigious locations like Augusta.

The facility’s exclusivity and state-of-the-art amenities have drawn acclaim from top recruits in the world of golf, who view it as a game-changing asset for the University of Alabama’s golf program. The dedication to providing top-tier resources for student-athletes reflects the commitment of the university’s leadership to fostering success both on and off the course. The attention and accolades surrounding Crimson Reserve position it as a leading example of how investing in athletics infrastructure can elevate a program’s competitive edge.

Alabama’s golf practice facility sets a new standard for collegiate sports training grounds, demonstrating the impact of innovative design and strategic investment in creating a premier environment for athletes. The collaboration between past champions, current players, and university officials in developing Crimson Reserve showcases a commitment to excellence that resonates with recruits and fans alike. As the facility continues to attract attention within the golf community, it solidifies Alabama’s reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate golf and sets a benchmark for other programs to aspire to.
