In December 2024, the Grant Thornton Invitational will bring together 32 top PGA and LPGA Tour professionals for a unique event that features mixed teams consisting of one player from each tour. This event provides golf fans with the opportunity to watch the best male and female golfers compete against each other for a $4 million purse. The tournament, in its second year, promises exciting competition and the chance to see some of the biggest names in golf collaborate on the course.

Tournament officials recently announced the final 12 teams that will be participating in the event, showcasing some formidable duos. Rising LPGA star Rose Zhang will team up with Sahith Theegala, while French pros Matthieu Pavon and Céline Boutier bring their skills to the competition. Defending champions Lydia Ko and Jason Day will also be returning, alongside top-ranked players such as Nelly Korda and Tony Finau, and Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler. The diverse range of talent in this year’s field promises thrilling matchups and intense competition across the three rounds of play.

The Grant Thornton Invitational will take place at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, for the second consecutive year. The tournament features a unique format, with players competing in a scramble format in the first round, followed by traditional foursomes in the second round. The final round will see players engaging in a modified four-ball format, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. This format not only tests the skills of each player but also encourages teamwork and collaboration between the male and female competitors.

The event serves as a rare opportunity for golf fans to witness male and female professionals playing together in a competitive setting. By bringing together the best talents from both the PGA and LPGA Tours, the Grant Thornton Invitational highlights the skill and diversity present in the world of golf. The event not only showcases the individual talents of each player but also emphasizes the importance of teamwork and collaboration in a sport that is often seen as individualistic.

As the 2024 golf season comes to a close, the Grant Thornton Invitational offers a thrilling end-of-year spectacle for both players and fans. With a star-studded field and an innovative format, the tournament promises exciting play and fierce competition over the course of three days. The event’s emphasis on bringing together male and female professionals underscores the inclusive nature of the sport and its ability to unite players from different backgrounds and tours. Golf enthusiasts can look forward to a weekend of world-class golf and unforgettable moments at the Grant Thornton Invitational.
