The 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Championship is set to take place with a 36-man field, featuring top golfers from the PGA Tour Champions season. Ernie Els, who has three wins this season, holds the top spot in the points ranking going into the finale. Steven Alker, Stephen Ames, Padraig Harrington, and Y.E. Yang round out the top five, with Alker and Yang each having one win.

Richard Green, who is yet to win in 2024, holds the sixth spot in the rankings. Other notable players in the field include Miguel Angel Jimenez, Jerry Kelly, Bernhard Langer, Retief Goosen, and Darren Clarke. Three first-time winners, Ricardo Gonzalez, Stewart Cink, and Tim O’Neal, are also set to make their Charles Schwab Cup Championship debut.

Jason Caron, a full-time club pro from New York, has earned his card for the 2025 PGA Tour Champions season and is currently ranked 35th in the points. The event differs from the PGA Tour’s post-season as the winner of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship may not necessarily be the season-long Charles Schwab Cup champion. Only three golfers have achieved the double-win in the same season – Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, and Kevin Sutherland.

The history of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and Charles Schwab Cup champions dates back to the early 1990s, with past winners including Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, and Fred Couples. The likes of Bernhard Langer, Steve Stricker, and Tom Lehman have been consistent top performers in the championship over the years. Stricker notably won the season-long title without participating in any of the three postseason events due to his regular-season dominance.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship offers a platform for top golfers on the PGA Tour Champions to showcase their skills and compete for both individual tournament victory and the season-long championship. With the competitive field of seasoned veterans and up-and-coming players, the 2024 edition promises exciting golfing action and the potential for a new champion to emerge. Fans and players alike are gearing up for a thrilling conclusion to the PGA Tour Champions season at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
