Austin Eckroat dominates Tiger’s track, fires a 63 to claim his second victory of the season at WWT Championship.

Austin Eckroat enjoyed a relaxing Saturday night before the final round of the World Wide Technology Championship by playing video games in his hotel room. His latest obsession, the new Call of Duty game, helped him take his mind off the upcoming competition. The next day, he went out and played some amazing golf, reeling off nine birdies in his first 12 holes and shooting 9-under 63 at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico. This impressive performance led him to win the tournament by one stroke over Carson Young and Justin Lower, securing his second victory of the season on the PGA Tour.

The win was a validation for Eckroat, who had already achieved most of his goals for the season. At 25 years old and a pro out of Oklahoma State, winning twice in a season was a special achievement for him. Despite already securing his place in the top 50, Eckroat had the drive to keep playing and competing. He thrives on short-term goals rather than taking extended breaks from the game. His love for tournament golf and the challenge of competing in high-stakes events motivates him to keep pushing himself to excel on the course.

Cabo has been a favorable location for Eckroat in the past, as he had previously won the Cabo Collegiate in 2019. His performance improved steadily throughout the tournament, with his score lowering by a stroke each day. In the final round, he showcased remarkable golf skills reminiscent of Tiger Woods, making a series of birdies to secure his victory. Eckroat kept his momentum going with additional birdies on the back nine, widening his lead to eventually finish at 24-under 264.

Despite a course record-setting 61 by Carson Young on Friday, it was not enough to challenge Eckroat’s lead. Young needed an eagle on the final hole to force a playoff, but he narrowly missed the putt and had to settle for a tie for second place with Justin Lower. Max Greyserman finished alone in fourth, recording his fourth top-4 finish in the last six starts. Eckroat’s dominant performance and unwavering focus throughout the tournament highlighted his talent and dedication to the sport.

The victory at the World Wide Technology Championship earned Eckroat a trip back to the Masters and marked a significant milestone in his career. His ability to maintain composure under pressure, coupled with his exceptional golf skills, made him a formidable competitor in the field. Eckroat’s passion for tournament golf and his preference for short-term goals continue to drive his success on the PGA Tour. As he looks towards future competitions and opportunities to showcase his talent, fans can expect to see more impressive performances from this rising star in the world of professional golf.
