Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York, offers a golfing experience like no other. Matt Falvo, the director of golf courses and grounds, has been a part of the property for nearly 25 years and knows every nook and cranny of this beautiful piece of land. Walking around the championship courses at Turning Stone, Falvo exudes confidence and charm, making every player feel at ease as they take on the challenging tracks.

Shenendoah, considered the best starting point at the resort, offers picturesque views and a welcoming atmosphere. With Falvo’s house visible from the course and his son playing football at a nearby campus, there is a sense of community and familiarity that makes the golfing experience even more special. Additionally, Falvo has plenty of funny stories from the time the PGA Tour’s Turning Stone Resort Championship was held at the property from 2007 to 2010, including a memorable encounter with John Daly.

Kaluhyat, one of the resort’s most challenging courses, is often compared to Bethpage Black for its difficulty level. With a slope of 145, Kaluhyat presents golfers with a tough test of skill and precision. While the course offers breathtaking views and unique holes, players are quick to point out the challenges it presents, making it a favorite among those looking for a true test of their abilities.

Atunyote, another championship course designed by Tom Fazio, offers wide fairways and a sense of exclusivity that sets it apart from the rest. Having hosted several professional golf events, including Dustin Johnson’s first PGA Tour victory, Atunyote holds a special place in the history of the resort. With challenging holes and elaborate design touches, this course provides a world-class golfing experience.

In addition to the championship courses, Turning Stone also features Shenendoah, a parkland-style course that offers a mix of fun and challenge. The resort’s full-service amenities, including accommodations, gaming, and fine dining options like the TS Steakhouse, make it a complete destination for golfers and non-golfers alike. Plans for further expansion, including a new hotel and seafood restaurant, promise to enhance the resort’s offerings even more.

For those looking for a more relaxed golfing experience, Sandstone Hollow, a short course designed by Rick Smith, provides plenty of fun and entertainment. Pleasant Knolls, a nine-hole course with affordable beer prices, offers a casual yet enjoyable round of golf. With prices comparable to other top golf destinations, Turning Stone provides a high-quality experience at a reasonable cost, making it a must-visit for golf enthusiasts of all levels.

Overall, Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York, offers a unique blend of challenging championship courses, relaxed golfing experiences, and top-notch amenities. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a tough test or a casual player seeking a fun round, there’s something for everyone at this expansive resort. With plans for future expansion and a commitment to providing exceptional service, Turning Stone continues to solidify its reputation as one of the premier golf destinations in the region.
