Spanish golfer Carlota Ciganda thrilled her home fans with a one-stroke victory at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España on the Ladies European Tour. Despite a rocky start on the final day, Ciganda managed to maintain her composure and secure the win at Real Club Guadalhorce Golf. She held a four-shot lead overnight, but Belgium’s Manon De Roey put up a strong fight, eventually finishing in second place.

Ciganda faced early challenges on the final day, with De Roey briefly taking the lead. However, Ciganda rallied on the back nine, making crucial shots and putts to regain her advantage. With key birdies on the 14th and 17th holes, she secured a two-shot victory, finishing at 18-under-par. Despite a late bogey, Ciganda expressed her joy at winning in front of her fans and family, highlighting the challenges she faced throughout the round.

De Roey, who finished in second place, also put up a commendable performance with a bogey-free 68 on the final day. Despite narrowly missing out on the win, De Roey praised her own performance and expressed satisfaction with her overall play throughout the tournament. Indian golfer Pranavi Urs achieved her best-ever finish on the LET, securing a solo third place with a final round of 69.

At the end of the tournament, the LET Order of Merit standings reflected Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini at the top, followed by De Roey and England’s Charley Hull. Ciganda’s victory propelled her up the rankings from 81st to 28th, showcasing her strong performance in the season-ending event. Additionally, France’s Celine Herbin secured the 70th spot in the Order of Merit, ensuring her full LET card for the upcoming season.

Ciganda’s win at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España highlighted her resilience and skill on the golf course, especially under pressure on the final day. Her ability to maintain her focus and make crucial shots when needed ultimately secured her victory in front of a supportive home crowd. De Roey’s strong performance also showcased her talent and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, setting the stage for future success on the LET.

Overall, the season-ending event on the Ladies European Tour provided an exciting conclusion to the season, with top players showcasing their skills and determination on the golf course. As the players head into the offseason and prepare for the upcoming season, the competitive spirit and camaraderie displayed during the tournament will undoubtedly fuel their motivation for future success. With strong performances from Ciganda, De Roey, and other top players, the future looks bright for women’s golf on the LET.
