This week in the golfing world, there have been some interesting developments involving players like Greg Norman and Dustin Johnson. LIV Golf, the organization behind the Super Golf League, has been making moves during the offseason, including the expected hiring of Scott O’Neil as the new CEO. Additionally, there has been a trade between Thomas Pieters and Bubba Watson’s teams, as well as speculation surrounding Tony Finau’s withdrawal from the Hero World Challenge. Furthermore, Peter Uihlein’s recent win in the International Series Qatar has put him in the lead for the International Series standings, potentially securing his spot on the LIV Golf tour for 2025.

The winners of the week in golf include Ryggs Johnston, who won the ISPS Handa Australian Open, Peter Uihlein, who won the International Series Qatar, and Shaun Norris, who won the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup on the Japan Golf Tour. However, there were also notable performances from players like Marc Leishman, Anthony Kim, and a group of PGA Tour mainstays who participated in the Nedbank Golf Challenge on the DP World Tour. These players may not have won their respective tournaments, but their performances were still noteworthy.

In terms of golf strategy, Top 100 teacher and Tour coach Mark Blackburn explains a simple way for players to generate power in their swing by utilizing the ground. By pulling their trail foot back and pushing their lead foot forward, players can create rotation that can enhance their swing. This technique is used by top players to generate distance and power in their shots and can be a valuable tool for amateur golfers looking to improve their game.

One major development in the golfing world is the resignation of LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan, who has stepped down after three-and-a-half years in the role. Her tenure was marked by both successes, such as purse increases and improved player benefits, as well as challenges, including missed opportunities to elevate the tour’s profile. With her departure, the LPGA Tour is now at a crossroads as it looks for a new leader to guide the organization to greater success and visibility.

One thing to watch in the upcoming week is Tiger Woods’ press conference ahead of the Hero World Challenge. As a central figure in professional golf, Woods’ remarks will be closely watched for insights into his playing schedule for 2025, his involvement in various golfing initiatives, and his health status following his injury at the Open Championship. Woods’ press conference is likely to shed light on the future of professional golf and his role in shaping the sport going forward.

Overall, the offseason in golf has been marked by interesting developments, including player movements in LIV Golf, tournament wins by rising stars, and strategic insights from top coaches. As the golfing world prepares for the upcoming season, all eyes are on key players like Tiger Woods and potential leaders within the LPGA Tour. Stay tuned for more updates and news from the world of golf as the offseason progresses.
