Get to Know the Winners of the 2024 Women In Golf Awards

The third annual Women in Golf Awards took place at Foxhills, bringing together women from all sectors of the golf industry to celebrate their achievements. The event showcased the work of women in various roles and aimed to inspire more women to consider a career in golf. A new collaboration with Colt McKenzie McNair and Bernhard Academy was announced, with a networking and educational day planned for spring 2025 at PING HQ to further support the finalists and sponsors in their professional development.

BBC sport presenter Katherine Downes presented awards in 10 categories, recognizing women in different areas of the industry. Winners included Di Stock for Unsung Hero, The Grove for Brand of the Year, Karen Lunn for International Woman, and Barbara Tucker for Women’s Initiative. Other winners included Anna Nilsson for Women in Turfcare, Sarah Bennett for Women PGA Professional, and Becca Hembrough for Women’s Leadership. Rising Star award went to Molly Pavey, while Fiona Womack and Sharon Eales received a special award for their innovative approach to golf course design.

Di Stock was recognized for her selfless commitment to women’s golf in Hampshire, where she has dedicated countless hours to refereeing and supporting the women’s section. The Grove was honored for its inclusive culture and support for women in golf, with a significant percentage of female staff members and leaders. Karen Lunn’s contributions to women’s professional golf in Australasia were highlighted, as well as her role in promoting the sport at all levels in the country.

Barbara Tucker’s ‘Blue Course’ initiative at Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club was credited with bringing new members to the club and supporting the continued growth of the ladies section. Anna Nilsson’s dedication to Turfcare at The Belfry has helped secure prestigious events like the British Masters, while also inspiring future greenkeepers. Sarah Bennett was recognized for her work in promoting women’s golf and inclusion in the sport, along with her coaching and leadership roles in various golf organizations.

Becca Hembrough was acknowledged for her leadership in England Golf, helping the team become the most successful women’s golf team in Europe. Molly Pavey’s rapid rise to General Manager at Bramshaw Golf Club and Paultons Golf Centre was celebrated, along with her commitment to initiatives like Girls Golf Rocks and the Women in Golf Charter. Fiona Womack and Sharon Eales were honored for their innovative approach to golf course design, creating a model that provides a more enjoyable experience for all golfers.

Adele McLean received the Inspirational Achievement award for her journey from the driving range to Managing Director of TGI Golf, demonstrating the impact and success women can achieve in the golf industry. The Women in Golf Awards event highlighted the accomplishments of women in various roles within the industry and served as a platform to inspire more women to pursue careers in golf. With ongoing support and recognition for women’s contributions to the sport, the future looks bright for women in golf.
