Cobra Golf has built a reputation for releasing impressive game-improvement irons in recent years, with the Aerojet, King LTDx, and Darkspeed models gaining positive reviews. The latest release, the DS-ADAPT irons, aims to build upon this success. The new irons are available in two models: standard and Max, with the latter featuring 2 degrees of extra loft and a lighter head/wider sole for improved launch ease. Designed for mid-to-high-handicap players, both models feature a hollow body construction filled with lightweight foam microspheres to enhance feel and improve speed and launch.

The DS-ADAPT irons feature the PWR-BRIDGE weighting system to lower the CG and facilitate high launch angles. Visually, the irons have a sophisticated dark appearance, with the Max model offering a subtle red accent in the cavity. The head shaping is well-proportioned and offers soft curves with a palatable level of offset. The darker finish of the head helps minimize the topline, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the irons.

During testing at Saunton Golf Club, the DS-ADAPT irons produced familiar but impressive results. Launch monitor data showed minimal differences compared to the previous Darkspeed model, with spin, launch, and distance output remaining consistent. The Max version offers a softer, easier-to-launch ball flight, making it a desirable option for those with moderate swing speeds. Despite a robust and harsh feel at impact, the irons deliver impressive speed and smooth turf interaction, making them a top choice for those seeking distance.

The DS-ADAPT and DS-ADAPT Max irons are available in a 4-SW and 5-GW iron set compositions with the choice of KBS Tour Lite steel shafts (S, R) or KBS PGI graphite shafts (S, R, A). Priced at £799/$999 for steel and £899/$1099 for graphite, these irons offer a combination of performance and affordability. Overall, the Cobra Golf DS-ADAPT irons continue the brand’s legacy of delivering high-quality game-improvement irons that cater to a wide range of players. With their innovative technologies and impressive performance, these irons are sure to be a popular choice among golfers in 2025.
