Review of the Cobra DS-ADAPT LS Titanium Fairway Wood

The Cobra DS-ADAPT LS Titanium fairway wood is a premium, high-performance club designed for elite players and low handicappers with fast swing speeds. With a squashed compact head and a matte and gloss black finish, this club boasts stunning shelf appeal. The LS head is specifically designed to knock off spin, lower ball flight, and cater to golfers looking to work the ball around the course.

While the LS fairway wood may look similar to the Darkspeed LS model, its performance sets it apart. The deeper face and two 13g removable weights in the club’s front bring the center of gravity forward, resulting in a lower launch and reduced spin. The LS model sports a 14.5° loft, compared to the standard 15° 3-wood loft, making it ideal for golfers seeking a penetrating ball flight. Despite its initial difficulty in managing the low launch and spin, testers found that they were able to warm up to the club and achieve more consistency and control.

The titanium body and carbon fiber crown of the Cobra DS-ADAPT LS Titanium fairway wood allow for the addition of two 13g removable weights and 34g of internal redistributed tungsten for optimal center of gravity placement. The larger and thinner titanium face, combined with Cobra’s H.O.T. Face Technology, results in faster ball speeds, with testers reaching speeds up to 160mph. While the LS model comes with a higher price tag compared to other DS-ADAPT models, the added performance justifies the cost.

The FutureFit33 hosel on the LS fairway wood offers 33 custom settings, allowing golfers to fine-tune their club to match their swing characteristics and preferences. The clever sole design and dual cog system ensure that the face angle remains consistent across different settings. By utilizing the QR code on the club’s neck, golfers can access the hosel configuration chart to determine the most suitable setting for their game. Testing on the range revealed significantly different ball flights based on the chosen setting, highlighting the versatility of this feature.

Overall, the Cobra DS-ADAPT LS Titanium fairway wood is highly recommended for golfers with fast swing speeds who prioritize ball speed and ball flight control. While it may sacrifice some accuracy in favor of increased distance and workability, the trade-off is acceptable for low-handicap players looking to optimize their game. With its advanced technology, premium materials, and customizable settings, the LS model stands out as a top contender among high-performance fairway woods.
