GOLF’s Course Raters and Architecture Editor, Ran Morrissett, identified the best golf courses in every state as part of the rigorous ratings process for the Top 100 Courses in the U.S. and Top 100 Courses You Can Play rankings. Alabama boasts some of the best golf courses in the country, and you can use GOLF’s Course Finder tool to assist in planning your next golf trip. The tool allows you to filter courses by price, type, and ranking to create the perfect itinerary for your next golfing adventure.

Some of the best golf courses in Alabama include Wicker Point, Shoal Creek, CC of Birmingham – West, Mountain Brook Club, Turtle Point Yacht & CC, and the RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National. The Links course at the RTJ Golf Trail offers a varied test with beautiful vistas and impeccable conditioning. Kiva Dunes, Country Club of Mobile, Old Overton Club, and The Ledges are also top contenders in Alabama’s golf scene.

The ranking process for the Top 100 U.S. and Top 100 You Can Play lists involved each panelist being provided a ballot with 609 courses listed. Panelists were asked to group courses in buckets based on their rankings, and points were assigned to each bucket to determine the final rankings. The diverse panel of 127 experts from around the world with extensive golfing experience and architectural knowledge contributed to the final rankings.

GOLF’s course ratings are subjective, and consensus is reached by incorporating the diversity of panelists’ opinions and experiences. The goal is to create a ranking that reflects the expertise and insights of the panelists who have played numerous courses globally. Each panelist has a keen eye for architecture and a deep passion for the game of golf, making their rankings highly respected within the golfing community.

If you need help navigating the greens at your home course, consider picking up a custom Green Book from GolfLogix, an 8AM Golf affiliate. The Green Book can help you understand the intricacies of the course and improve your putting game. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a beginner, having the right tools and resources can enhance your golfing experience and help you improve your skills on the course.

Alabama offers a diverse range of golf courses, from scenic coastal layouts like Kiva Dunes to challenging courses like the RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National. No matter your skill level or preference, you’ll find a course in Alabama that suits your playing style. The state’s golfing scene continues to grow and evolve, attracting golfers from all over the country to experience its top-tier courses and southern hospitality.

In addition to the Top 100 Courses in the U.S. and Top 100 Courses You Can Play rankings, GOLF also provides rankings for Best Value Courses in the U.S., America’s Best Municipal Courses, and the 100 Best Short Courses in the World. These rankings offer golfers a comprehensive guide to the best courses in the world, catering to various preferences and budgets. Whether you’re looking for a challenging championship course or a relaxing par-3 course, GOLF’s rankings can help you discover new and exciting golfing destinations.

If you’re planning a golf trip in the future, consider using GOLF’s Course Finder tool to create a customized itinerary based on your preferences and budget. The tool allows you to browse top courses, filter by price, and explore different types of courses to create a memorable golfing experience. Whether you’re traveling solo or with a group, GOLF’s Course Finder can help you find the perfect courses to visit and make the most of your golf trip in Alabama or any other state.
