The Showdown between PGA Tour and LIV golfers is a significant event in the world of men’s professional golf, marking the first match between the two organizations since their split in 2022. The event took place at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, a course known for its exclusivity and luxury. With a green fee of $1,250, which includes a private limo ride, caddie, and locker, Shadow Creek is one of the most expensive public tee times in the United States. Booking a tee time at Shadow Creek is not easy, as it is primarily reserved for guests staying at select MGM-owned properties or comped players with a host.

The general manager of Shadow Creek, Monte Montgomery, explained the reservation process on Golf.com’s SubPar podcast, stating that weekends are reserved for comped players only. The course’s exclusivity adds to its allure and prestige, with only a select few having the opportunity to experience playing on its championship course. Past players at Shadow Creek include golf legends Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who competed in a thrilling version of The Match in 2018.

The course itself is known for its stunning beauty, with a backdrop of mountains, mature pines, ponds, and creeks. Designed by Tom Fazio, Shadow Creek’s 7,560-yard par-72 championship course is perfectly manicured, featuring lush green fairways and smooth putting surfaces. The signature hole on the course is the par-3 17th, offering a challenging shot over water to a green guarded by bunkers and a waterfall.

Tom Fazio, known for creating or renovating world-class golf courses, led the design of Shadow Creek in 1989. The project reportedly cost around $60 million, with the price of a round significantly increasing over the years. Originally opened as a private club by Steve Wynn, Shadow Creek was purchased by MGM Resorts International in 2000. Today, it is considered one of the best courses in the USA and the top course in Nevada.

Shadow Creek’s reputation for exclusivity, luxury, and beauty has solidified its status as a must-play destination for avid golfers. The course’s storied history, stunning design, and celebrity clientele have contributed to its appeal and popularity among golf enthusiasts. As one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country, Shadow Creek continues to attract players from around the world seeking a unique and unforgettable golfing experience.
