Ohio is home to some of the best golf courses in the United States, with Camargo taking the top spot in the state. This classic Seth Raynor design in suburban Cincinnati boasts deep bunkers, squared-off greens, and a variety of Raynor template one-shot holes that rival some of the best in the world. Constant refinements and maintenance ensure that Camargo remains a top-ranked course in Ohio. Inverness in Toledo is another top-ranked course with a recent renovation by Andrew Green restoring Donald Ross features and adding length to challenge modern players. The course is known for its stunning two-shotters and a unique closing hole that rewards strategy over power.

Muirfield Village in Dublin, conceived by Jack Nicklaus to be his hometown equivalent of Augusta National, is a 1974 collaboration with Desmond Muirhead that has stood the test of time. The course features strategic design, flawless conditioning, and beautifully integrated spectator areas that provide clear views of the action. Pete Dye’s The Golf Club in New Albany is a masterclass in design, with bunkers, water hazards, and tall native grasses creating a challenging yet visually stunning layout. Scioto, a Donald Ross gem in Dublin, returned to the U.S. Top 100 after an Andrew Green restoration that brought the course back to its original design.

Moraine in Kettering, host of the 1945 PGA Championship, has undergone a transformative restoration by Keith Foster that has elevated its status in the golf world. The course’s Golden Age design by Alex “Nipper” Campbell now shines through with tree removal and a renewed focus on the property’s natural landforms. The Country Club in Cleveland, Brookside in Canton, Kirtland in Willoughby, and Canterbury in Beachwood round out the top 10 best golf courses in Ohio. Firestone – South in Akron, Double Eagle in Galena, NCR – South in Kettering, Pepper Pike Club in Pepper Pike, and Sand Ridge in Chardon are also top-ranked courses in the state.

GOLF’s rigorous ratings process for the Top 100 Courses in the U.S. and Top 100 Courses You Can Play rankings involves a fleet of over 100 expert panelists who identify the best golf courses in every state.
