The year 2024 has been a spectacular year for golf tournaments, with many exciting moments and close competitions. One event that stands out is Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open victory, where he edged out Rory McIlroy by a single stroke. Another memorable moment was Scottie Scheffler’s gold medal win at the Olympics, where he shot a remarkable back nine 29. Lottie Woad also had a thrilling victory at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, birdieing the final two holes to win by a single stroke. With so many exciting tournaments to choose from, it can be difficult to determine the most entertaining one of the year.

The Golf Monthly team has compiled a list of nominees for the Tournament of the Year, including the US Open, Men’s Olympics, ANWA, AIG Women’s Open, and others. Each event showcased thrilling performances and dramatic finishes, making it difficult to choose a clear winner. The BMW PGA Championship also deserves recognition for the intense competition and impressive play by top golfers like Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel. The final day at Wentworth featured a nail-biting playoff that culminated in Horschel’s incredible eagle to secure the victory.

The men’s Olympic golf competition in Paris stood out as the most compelling tournament from start to finish, with low scores, massive crowds, and record-breaking feats throughout. The event captivated viewers with its four days of engaging competition and close action, culminating in a thrilling finish on Sunday. The atmosphere and level of play at the men’s Olympics made it a standout event of the year. Other notable tournaments included the Curtis Cup and the US Open, which featured intense competition and memorable moments that will be remembered for years to come.

The men’s Olympics showcased the world’s top players competing in a non-money event that celebrated golf as a sport on an entertaining course. The Curtis Cup also delivered a gripping competition between future stars from GB&I and the USA, with a thrilling finish that captivated fans. However, the US Open emerged as the tournament of the year, with a dramatic final round at Pinehurst No. 2 that saw Bryson DeChambeau’s historic bunker shot on the 72nd hole. The competition culminated in a gripping ending that will be remembered as one of the greatest moments in Major history.

Overall, the year 2024 offered a plethora of exciting golf tournaments that showcased the talent and skill of the top players in the world. Whether it was Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open victory, Scottie Scheffler’s gold medal win at the Olympics, or Lottie Woad’s triumph at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, each event provided fans with unforgettable moments. The Golf Monthly team’s list of nominees for Tournament of the Year reflects the high level of competition and thrilling finishes that defined the year in golf. With so many memorable events to choose from, it’s clear that 2024 was a year to remember in the world of golf.
