Max Homa made significant changes during the offseason, including working with a new swing coach, wearing new clothes from lululemon, and signing a multi-year deal with Cobra Puma Golf for clubs and shoes. This equipment change was a major announcement as Homa had previously played with Titleist clubs. Homa debuted his new clubs at the PGA Tour’s first event of the season at Kapalua, where he finished at 19 under for a T26 finish.

Despite not securing a top finish at Kapalua, Homa’s performance showed promise with his new equipment. Co-hosts of GOLF’s Fully Equipped podcast, Kris McCormack and Wadeh Maroun, praised Homa for his solid play and trust in his new irons and woods. They noted that Homa also utilized his new wedges during the tournament, indicating a successful transition to his new equipment lineup. Overall, Homa’s performance at Kapalua was a promising start to the new year.

While Homa retained his Scotty Cameron putter and Titleist Pro V1x golf ball from last season, he introduced new Cobra clubs into his bag, including the DS-ADAPT LS driver and a prototype set of 3D-printed irons. With this equipment change, Homa became the face of Cobra’s Tour staff, representing the brand alongside other golfers like Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland. The addition of Homa to Cobra’s staff was seen as a positive move for the company, as they looked to have a prominent player represent their brand.

Maroun and McCormack highlighted the importance of having a player like Homa on Cobra’s staff, emphasizing his social media presence, personality, and potential to engage with fans. The co-hosts expressed excitement about the partnership between Homa and Cobra, viewing it as a beneficial addition for both parties. With Homa’s strong start to the year and his endorsement of Cobra equipment, the partnership is expected to bring mutual success for the golfer and the brand.
