Review of the Titleist Pro V1x Golf Ball for 2025

The Pro V1 franchise has been a dominant force in golf ball technology since its introduction in 2000. Titleist has recently given the Pro V1x a makeover, with the goal of providing more speed off the tee while maintaining control with irons and wedges. The Pro V1x boasts a four-layer construction, as opposed to the Pro V1’s three layers, resulting in a ball that flies higher, spins more on full swing shots, and has a firmer feel.

Titleist’s R&D process for the Pro V1x is extensive, with each ball undergoing more than 120 quality checks before being deemed ready for play. The latest iteration of the Pro V1x features a reformulated high gradient core that promises to steepen the spin slope, providing low spin off the tee while increasing spin with scoring clubs and delivering a measurable gain in ball speed. This new design was put to the test on the Foresight Sports GCQuad launch monitor and on the golf course.

The data collected from the launch monitor testing showed positive results, with the 2025 Pro V1x outperforming its predecessor in terms of ball speed and carry distance. The new Pro V1x also demonstrated more short game spin than the 2025 Pro V1 ball on various shots around the green. On the course, the Pro V1x’s performance was impressive, offering increased yardage, strong flight characteristics, and exceptional stability in crosswinds.

Players looking for a firmer feel when chipping and putting may prefer the Pro V1x over the Pro V1, as it provides a lower flight and better stopping power on short shots. The Pro V1x also offers a higher flight with the driver, making it a versatile option for golfers of all skill levels. The goal of the new Pro V1 balls was to provide more speed off the tee while maintaining control with irons and wedges, and based on the testing results, Titleist has succeeded in achieving this objective.

Ultimately, the decision of which ball to use comes down to player preference. The Pro V1x may be more suited for those who prefer a firmer feel and higher flight with the driver, while the Pro V1 offers a softer feel and potentially different performance characteristics. Both balls deliver on Titleist’s promise of increased speed and control, making them top choices for golfers seeking premium performance on the course.

The new Titleist Pro V1x balls will be available for purchase starting on January 30th, offering golfers the opportunity to experience the latest advancements in golf ball technology. Whether the Pro V1x justifies its price tag of £52 per dozen is ultimately up to each individual player to decide based on their own preferences and performance needs. Overall, the Pro V1x represents a significant advancement in golf ball technology and is sure to be a popular choice among players looking for top-tier performance on the course.
