Review of the Ping G440 Hybrid by Golf Monthly

The Ping G440 hybrid is the latest addition to Ping’s line of golf clubs, following the success of the G430 hybrid from the previous year. While there have been minimal changes in terms of aesthetics, such as the large footprint and blue color scheme, the new features in the G440 hybrid aim to improve performance. The Carbonfly Wrap across the crown helps to lower the center of gravity, resulting in more speed and forgiveness. Additionally, the Free Hosel design allows for weight savings and optimal spin and launch conditions.

The G440 hybrid features a rounded sole design, which allows the club to sit flush to the turf and makes it easier to launch the ball. The familiar score lines on the face aid in alignment and centering the ball at address, while the maraging steel face ensures that mishits are not heavily punished. Testing with the new Titleist Pro V1x golf balls yielded impressive and consistent results, with high launch angles and towering ball flights. The G440 hybrid proved to be versatile in various conditions, allowing for adjustments to flight the ball down or launch it high as needed.

The performance of the Ping G440 hybrid was particularly noteworthy from both the tee and the fairway, as well as out of the rough. The club maintained a good trajectory and carry from the tee, while providing enough height and spin from the fairway to stop the ball on greens. Surprisingly, the G440 also performed well from the rough, despite its slightly larger head size. The club’s versatility and forgiving nature make it suitable for a wide range of players, offering confidence-inspiring features for those who need them, as well as performance benefits for more skilled players.

One of the standout features of the Ping G440 hybrid is its ability to perform well in any situation, thanks to its forgiving design and impressive performance characteristics. While the club comes with a price tag of $325, it is considered to be one of the most impressive hybrids released in 2025. Overall, the G440 hybrid offers a combination of forgiveness, speed, and versatility that make it a top choice for golfers looking for a reliable and high-performing hybrid club.
