Bob Uecker, known for his roles as the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, in “Major League” films, and on the sitcom “Mr. Belvedere,” was also an avid golfer. He started playing golf during his baseball career in the 1960s and lowered his handicap to about a 12. In a 2020 interview with GOLF magazine, Uecker discussed his love of golf and shared some humorous anecdotes about his experiences on the course.

Despite his age of 86, Uecker remains passionate about golf and enjoys hitting the links whenever he can. He admitted that golf was frustrating for him at first, but he persevered and eventually improved his game. With a handicap of around 12, Uecker may not hit the ball as far as he used to, but he still finds joy in playing the game.

When asked about the best golf tip he’s ever received, Uecker humorously replied, “To put my clubs away.” He also joked about hitting from the kids’ tees and shared a funny story about missing Halley’s Comet during a Miller Lite commercial shoot with Tommy Heinsohn. Uecker’s wit and sense of humor shine through in his anecdotes about his golf experiences.

While Uecker may be best known for his baseball career and announcing for the Milwaukee Brewers, he also had a successful acting career, appearing in movies like “Major League” and TV shows like “Mr. Belvedere.” His talent for ad-libbing lines in movies like “Major League” added to his charm and versatility as a performer.

Uecker’s 50-year tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers and 65-year career in baseball showcase his dedication to the sport. He expressed sadness at the thought of opening day passing without baseball due to the pandemic, as playing without fans in the stands would be a strange experience. Uecker emphasized the importance of fans in sports and how their presence fuels players’ performances.

As a beloved figure in baseball and entertainment, Uecker’s passion for golf and his sense of humor have endeared him to fans worldwide. Despite his age, he continues to find joy in playing golf and sharing stories from his illustrious career. His charisma and wit make him a legendary figure in both sports and entertainment.
