Prostate Cancer UK’s Big Golf Race Encourages Golfers to Hit the Links in 2025

Prostate Cancer UK is urging golfers in the UK to participate in The Big Golf Race, a fundraising challenge that supports life-saving projects like TRANSFORM, a groundbreaking prostate cancer screening trial. Since its launch in 2020, The Big Golf Race has raised over £4.5m with the help of more than 14,400 golfers. The charity aims to raise money to improve the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, the most diagnosed cancer in England affecting 1 in 8 men.

Simon Grieveson, Assistant Director of Research at Prostate Cancer UK, highlighted the impact of the funding from golfers, enabling projects like TRANSFORM to provide earlier diagnoses and save thousands of lives each year. The Big Golf Race offers three options for golfers to participate: the Marathon (playing 72 holes), the Half Marathon (36 holes), and the Ultra Marathon (100 or more holes). Golfers can sign up for the challenge via a new microsite, allowing for easy fundraising and tracking of progress.

Participants will receive a fundraising pack including golf essentials and a guide, with the chance to win prizes for reaching fundraising milestones. One lucky golfer raising £250 will win a golfing holiday to Cyprus, and the top fundraiser will receive a golf package worth £3,000 from Titleist. The 2025 launch event for The Big Golf Race took place at Pitch in Soho, in collaboration with launch partner Charles Tyrwhitt. The event featured a Q&A panel with ambassador Kenny Logan and Olympian Duncan Scott.

Kenny Logan, a former international rugby star treated for prostate cancer in 2022, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. He commended the golf community for their support and encouraged more golfers to get involved in The Big Golf Race. Eight-time Olympic medallist Duncan Scott expressed his excitement to support the cause and highlighted the impact of the fundraising efforts on prostate cancer research and screening programs.

In addition to The Big Golf Race, Scott will also be supporting Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 ride, raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and other cancer charities. The participation of both Olympians underscores the significance of the charity’s initiatives in supporting men affected by prostate cancer. Leading menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt continues its support of Prostate Cancer UK by sponsoring the launch event and promoting awareness of prostate cancer risk. Participants can sign up for The Big Golf Race on the charity’s website.
