When it comes to choosing the right golf rangefinder, the market can be overwhelming with a wide range of options available. While some may argue that all rangefinders do the same thing, the truth is that there are subtle differences that can make one stand out from the rest. Recently, a rangefinder priced at $800 was put to the test and while it offered a new putt reading functionality, it essentially did the same job as a $150 rangefinder. With this in mind, it’s important to establish a maximum budget and shop around from there to find the best option for your needs. One of the top contenders in the affordable range is the GolfBuddy 2S Pro, which retails for around $150.

The GolfBuddy 2S Pro offers a sleek and compact design, making it easy to carry around on the golf course. The device itself is designed with simplicity in mind, with minimal accents of color and a sturdy build. It is lightweight but not too flimsy, striking a good balance that makes it easy to handle. The size of the device is no bigger than the palm of your hand, making it convenient to use while out on the course. With three different modes – Standard, Pin Finder, and Scan mode – the GolfBuddy 2S Pro offers a range of features to help you accurately measure distances.

In Standard mode, the device displays straight-line distance, while Pin Finder mode locks onto the pin and provides a quick vibration confirmation. Scan mode allows you to continuously scan for five seconds to assess the lay of the land in front of you, making it easier to plan your shots. Additionally, the slope functionality can be toggled on and off in all three modes, allowing the device to be competition-ready with a simple switch of a button. The Buddy mode, also known as the triangulation mode, allows you to get accurate yardage without needing to be close to your ball, making it a convenient feature for various situations.

Despite its modest price tag, the GolfBuddy 2S Pro is packed with features that make it a competitive option in the rangefinder market. The device comes with everything you need in a practical and durable design. The carry case is well-proportioned and everything about the rangefinder feels well thought out and intuitive. While the display may not be as clear as some higher-end models, the GolfBuddy 2S Pro offers great value for its price. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable rangefinder that gets the job done without all the extra bells and whistles, the GolfBuddy 2S Pro is a solid choice.
