Xander Schauffele Achieves Impressive Score with Unorthodox Golf Strategy

Xander Schauffele, the No. 3 player in the world, struggled with his game at the recent Players Championship, finishing 72nd at 13-over par. However, he showed improvement at the Valspar Championship, posting a 5-under 66 in the final round with four straight back-nine birdies. Despite not having the best visuals on the course, Schauffele’s outlook has improved as he works his way back from a rib injury that kept him out of the game for some time.

Since returning from his injury at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Schauffele has made it to the weekend in three consecutive events on tough PGA Tour venues. He has been putting in extra work on the range after his rounds, trying to fix a two-way miss in his game. Schauffele credits his coach Chris Como and caddie Austin Kaiser for their support and guidance, even when Como is not physically present at the tournaments.

In 2024, Schauffele had a breakout season, winning his first major at the PGA Championship and then following it up with a victory at the Open Championship. These wins came as a result of his hard work and dedication to refining his swing with Como’s help. Although he is currently struggling with his game, Schauffele remains focused on getting back to playing his best golf by concentrating more on mindset than mechanics.

For his final round at the Valspar Championship, Schauffele emphasized the importance of getting the ball in the hole, regardless of how pretty his swing may be. He understands that golf is a mental game as much as it is physical, and he is working on regaining his confidence and composure on the course. Despite the challenges he has faced in recent tournaments, Schauffele remains optimistic about his future performance and is determined to put in the work needed to get back to his winning ways.

Looking ahead, Schauffele is focused on improving his game and getting back to peak performance. He knows that consistency is key in professional golf and is committed to putting in the hard work required to reach his goals. With the support of his coach, caddie, and team, Schauffele is confident that he can overcome his current struggles and return to the form that made him one of the top players in the world. Fans of golf can expect to see more exciting performances from Schauffele as he continues to work towards success on the PGA Tour.
