Review of Cleveland RTZ Wedge by Golf Monthly

Cleveland Golf has launched a new wedge in 2025, the RTZ wedge, which is set to uphold the brand’s reputation for producing top-quality wedges. The new wedges are crafted from Z-Alloy steel and are part of Cleveland’s efforts to align with partner brand Srixon’s new ZXi 2025 lineup. The RTZ wedge features a minimalist design that will attract golfers looking for a clean and sleek wedge to add to their bag. Available in Tour Satin, black satin, and Tour Rack raw finishes, the RTZ wedge offers options for golfers seeking different aesthetics.

At address, the Cleveland RTZ wedge presents a traditional profile with grooves on the face that frame the ball well. The Adapt grind option, available in higher lofted wedges, offers full face grooves for maximum versatility. Additionally, the RTZ wedges come in high, mid, and low bounce options, allowing golfers to choose the bounce that best suits their game. The new Z-Alloy steel used in the RTZ wedges is softer than previous steels used by Cleveland, providing a softer feel and enhanced consistency. This softer feel was noticeable during testing, especially on mid-range pitch shots.

Cleveland’s implementation of Hydrazip and Ultizip technology in the face of the RTZ wedge aids in spin and control, particularly in wet conditions. The face blasting and laser-milled lines help generate more spin, even in dewy conditions. The CG positioning of the RTZ wedges allows for a mid-to-high flight as standard, making it easier to control trajectory and land softly on greens. This adaptability in flight is beneficial for chipping and pitching around the green, enabling golfers to be creative and access difficult pin locations.

Overall, the Cleveland RTZ wedges impressed with their flight adaptability, soft feel, and control around the greens. The new Z-Alloy steel, combined with the Hydrazip and Ultizip technology, provides exceptional spin and control in various conditions. The RTZ wedge competes well with other top wedges on the market, offering golfers a reliable option for their short game needs. Whether it’s for chipping, pitching, or getting up and down, the Cleveland RTZ wedge delivers the performance and confidence needed to excel on the course.
