Review of Member’s Mark Golf Balls at Sam’s Club

The highly anticipated comparison between the new Member’s Mark golf ball from Sam’s Club and the Kirkland Signature ball from Costco is finally here. Both of these three-piece balls with urethane covers are priced at just over a dollar per ball, making them a much more affordable option compared to pro line balls like the Titleist Pro V1 or Callaway Chrome Tour. While they may not be on the same level as premium golf balls, they are still a great value for recreational players who might not be able to tell the difference.

As an 8 handicap, the reviewer found that the Member’s Mark Pro Series 2 golf ball performed well in terms of holding greens, providing spin around the greens, feeling good off the putter, and delivering good distance off the tee. Although similar to the Kirkland ball in many aspects, the Member’s Mark ball appeared to be slightly firmer and possibly longer off the tee. However, these observations are largely anecdotal and subjective, as the reviewer did not use a robot to test the balls.

The construction of the Member’s Mark golf ball includes a large core and thin cover with a compression rating of 90. This puts it in a similar range to the Titleist Pro V1, but potentially lower than the Kirkland Signature Ball. Despite the slightly firmer feel, the Member’s Mark ball still produced impressive distance both off the tee and with irons, launching high and generating ample spin on all shots. Around the greens, the ball performed admirably, checking up quickly with wedges and producing satisfactory spin out of bunkers.

The 338 dimple cover of the Member’s Mark ball features seven different dimple shapes, contributing to its performance characteristics off the tee and around the greens. While the appearance of the ball may not be as premium as other high-end options, its performance on the greens and feel with the putter were comparable to more expensive proline balls. The lack of alignment marks on the ball may be a drawback for some players who rely on visual aids for putting.

The Member’s Mark Pro Series 2 golf ball is the latest iteration in a series of golf balls designed by Sam’s Club. While there was no official release of a Pro Series 1 ball in the market, both the Pro Series and Pro Series 2 balls were certified as compliant by the USGA. The extensive testing and development process that goes into creating a golf ball like the Member’s Mark reflects the dedication to providing players with a quality product at an affordable price point.

In conclusion, the Member’s Mark golf ball offers a compelling option for recreational players looking for a high-performing ball that won’t break the bank. With solid performance across various aspects of the game, including distance off the tee, spin around the greens, and feel with the putter, this ball is a reliable choice for players of all skill levels. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of premium proline balls, the Member’s Mark Pro Series 2 delivers where it matters most – on the course. Whether you’re a casual weekend golfer or a seasoned pro looking for a budget-friendly alternative, the Member’s Mark golf ball is definitely worth a try.
