New Course Under Development at Pinehurst Resort: Everything We Know

Pinehurst Resort recently announced plans for their latest course, Pinehurst No. 11, which will be designed by the acclaimed duo Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. This new course will be built alongside Tom Doak’s Pinehurst No. 10 on a 900-acre site that was formerly mined for sand. Construction is set to begin later this year, with a target opening date in fall 2027. Coore and Crenshaw previously worked at Pinehurst Resort during the restoration of the No. 2 course in preparation for the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open.

The new Pinehurst No. 11 course is situated on a site with unique character, reclaimed by nature from mining activities in the 1930s. The combination of spoil piles, trees, and natural features creates an extraordinary and interesting site for golf. While Pinehurst No. 10 is known for its wide fairways and stunning views, No. 11 will offer a more intimate experience with its unique shape and style. The contrast between the two courses is expected to enhance the overall golfing experience at Pinehurst Sandmines.

The addition of Pinehurst No. 11 is part of the ongoing transformation of the Pinehurst Sandmines property. In addition to the new course, a pro shop, restaurant, and bar are set to open in 2025, with lodging accommodations expected to follow by 2027. Pinehurst Resort owner and CEO, Bob Dedman Jr., envisions Pinehurst Sandmines as a special place that will stand the test of time and enrich the soul of American golf. The combination of Coore & Crenshaw’s vision for No. 11 and Doak’s work on No. 10 is expected to elevate the golfing experience to new heights.

The President of Pinehurst Resort, Tom Pashley, expressed excitement about the contrasting designs of Pinehurst No. 10 and No. 11, believing that they complement each other well and offer a unique golfing experience in the North Carolina Sandhills. The goal is to create an unforgettable golfing experience that showcases the beauty and challenge of the natural landscape. Pinehurst Sandmines aims to become a standout destination not only in Pinehurst but in the broader golfing community.

With the announcement of Pinehurst No. 11, Pinehurst Resort continues to solidify its reputation as a premier golf destination in the United States. The combination of world-class designers, unique landscapes, and exceptional amenities sets Pinehurst Sandmines apart as a must-visit location for golf enthusiasts. The commitment to excellence and innovation in course design is evident in the plans for No. 11, which promise to deliver a one-of-a-kind golfing experience.

In conclusion, the future looks bright for Pinehurst Resort and the upcoming Pinehurst No. 11 course. With renowned designers at the helm and a commitment to creating exceptional golfing experiences, Pinehurst Sandmines is poised to become a top destination for golfers around the world. The addition of No. 11, alongside the existing No. 10 course and upcoming amenities, reflects Pinehurst Resort’s dedication to providing unparalleled hospitality and quality golfing experiences for all visitors. As construction begins and excitement builds for the opening of Pinehurst No. 11, golf enthusiasts can look forward to an unforgettable golfing experience in the North Carolina Sandhills.
