An American golf star has bizarrely compared Quail Hollow to the Kardashians ahead of the PGA Championship.

The Charlotte, North-Carolina-based course will be hosting the PGA Championship this year for the first time since 2017.

But 2008 Ryder Cup champion Hunter Mahan isn’t overly enthused about the location.

‘I guess I would say Quail Hollow is like a Kardashian, he said, via The Athletic.

‘It’s very modern, beautiful and well-kept. But it lacks a soul or character.’

The course, founded in 1959, is known for its pristinely manicured greens and massive clubhouse for players.

Quail Hollow has also hosted the Wells Fargo Championship since 2003 and the Presidents Cup in 2022.

But the course has undergone a lot of changes throughout the years.

A man-made stream was added in 1996, while the greens have also been remade on several occasions, per The Athletic.

And at least one golf legend has expressed frustration with the course.

‘Even though they’re in immaculate shape, I would say that No. 18 would be the worst green we have on tour, except it’s not even the worst green on the golf course, ‘ Phil Mickelson told the Charlotte Observer in 2010. ‘Twelve is.’

Regardless, all eyes will be on four-time winner Rory McIlroy this weekend.

McIlroy will try to become only the fifth player since 1960 to win the first two legs of the Grand Slam.

The others were Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.

Mahan, meanwhile, retired from the sport in 2021 and is now a high school golf coach.
