Billy Horschel made up for smashing a spectator’s shin with a golf ball at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

After The Masters tournament wrapped up over the weekend, the PGA Tour’s best golfers were back in action for the season’s fifth Signature Event.

On Thursday, Horschel hit an errant tee shot that blasted a woman’s shin by the course.

After ripping the driver to the right of the tenth fairway, Billy Ho retrieved the ball and was informed ricocheted hard off the woman’s shin and bounced back toward the fairway.

While the golfer did not see the ball hit the fan, the damage was glaringly visible as the woman had a giant welt on her shin.

To make up for the accident, Horschel encircled the welt and signed around it.

PGA Tour star Billy Horschel signed a fan’s shin after hitting her on a tee shot at RBC Heritage

A video posted by the Golf Channel showed the interaction as they shared a hug after he wrote on her shin. The commentary team then noted how the fan ‘made the best’ of the mishap.

Surrounding fans applauded the woman for being a good sport and Horschel for approaching her after the hit.

Justin Thomas currently sits atop the leaderboard for the $20million purse. The tournament runs from the 17th-20th of April.

Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley are tied for second while Wyndham Clark sits fourth ahead of a five-way tie for fifth place.

After the mishap was turned into a memorable interaction, Horschel finished the first day of the competition in a ten-way tie for 52nd.
