Comedian Shane Gillis found himself with the opportunity most golf fans would kill for at the weekend.

The 37-year-old managed to secure tickets for the final round of the Masters at Augusta National.

But even Rory McIlroy‘s thrilling victory didn’t seem to impress Gillis as he lamented about his experience at the major championship this week

‘I just don’t give a f*** about golf,’ he admitted on the latest episode of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast. ‘I really wanted to. […] You couldn’t see a f***ing thing.’

Gillis attended with ‘Tires’ co-star Steve Gerben, who had pleaded with the comedian to use his celebrity power to gain entry to the exclusive tournament, while their friend and other co-star Chris O’Connor managed to join last minute.

However, it appears Gillis would have rather followed O’Connor’s original plan and watched the Masters somewhere other than Augusta – blasphemy for golf fans.

‘But he [O’Connor[ was planning on not going so he had already started drinking a little. He was prepared to lock down by himself at Hooters for the entire day, which I couldn’t have been more jealous of,’ Gillis shockingly claimed.

Gillis did admit that the serene fairways of Augusta were like ‘paradise’ and that everyone was friendly, except for the bathrooms which he likened to ‘prison.’

Tickets for the Masters are notoriously difficult to get hold of with patrons having to enter a lottery in the hope of getting their hands on one.

And for those who succeed the trip to the hallowed ground of Augusta National is a sacred pilgrimage.

The lucky patrons who succeeded in securing their golden ticket this year were, despite Gillis’s rundown, treated to a final day thriller.

McIlroy finally broke his Masters duck Sunday as he defeated Justin Rose in sudden death playoff to claim his first Green Jacket and seal the career Grand Slam.

But the Northern Irishman didn’t make it easy for himself, threatening to let the major slip through his fingers once again, putting a five-shot lead with eight holes to play at risk in a dramatic final round at Augusta National.

There were many chances to wrap up his quest for an elusive first Masters title that McIlroy failed to seize.

It had appeared over before it had even had chance to begin when McIlroy opened with a double bogey, sacrificing his two-shot lead over playing partner Bryson DeChambeau.

McIlroy’s fourth birdie of the day on the 10th had given him a five-shot lead, but he inexplicably pitched into Rae’s Creek on the 13th to run up a second double bogey of the day and also dropped a shot on the 14th.

After a birdie on the 17th had seen him regain the lead, he blew it once again by missing a putt for par – and the win.

With Englishman Rose already in the clubhouse at 11 under, McIlroy had to settle for bogey on the final hole of regulation to send the first major of the year to sudden death.

But he finally slayed his Masters demons by besting his Ryder Cup teammate with a birdie at the first chance in the playoff.
