Majestic Oaks Golf Course Review: A Golfer’s Paradise in Wisconsin

Introduction

If you’re cruising through Delavan, Wisconsin, make sure to drop by Majestic Oaks Golf Course! This hidden gem has been part of the local golf scene for over a century and offers a beautiful lakeside experience that will delight golfers of all skill levels. With stunning views, eighteen unique holes, and a friendly atmosphere, it’s a must-try for anyone who loves the game.

Practice Facilities

Now, let’s chat about practice. Majestic Oaks isn’t exactly overflowing with practice facilities. While there’s no driving range or extensive short game area, they do have a mid-sized practice green where you can work on those chips and putts. The cool part? The speed of the practice green closely mirrors the course greens. So, what you practice is what you’ll be playing on, which is pretty crucial for honing your skills.

Customer Service & Amenities

Let’s talk customer service! Every cart at Majestic Oaks comes equipped with a GPS unit that gives you a full-color overview of each hole. That’s right—front, middle, and back of the green distances all at your fingertips. Plus, you’ll also get yardages to bunkers and water hazards to help you avoid those tricky spots.

When you step inside the pro shop, you’ll find a well-stocked selection of gear and apparel from brands like TaylorMade, Titleist, and Callaway. After your round, the Clubhouse Bar & Grill is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite and share some laughs with friends. If you’re looking for even more flavors, the Lake Lawn Resort offers a variety of dining options. Check them out here.

Beauty & Scenery

As its name suggests, Majestic Oaks prides itself on its natural beauty. With holes lined by mature trees, the scenery is truly breathtaking, offering challenges and visual appeal at every turn. Lake Delavan adds to the picturesque backdrop, especially on the early holes that run along the shoreline. The back nine features some elevated views, giving players stunning panoramas of the water. Trust me, you’ll want to snap a few pics!

Tee Shots

At 6,244 yards from the tips, Majestic Oaks isn’t going to wear you out with length. There are a few uphill holes, but for the most part, this course is pretty manageable. Long par 3s, a couple of solid 4s, and 5s mean that players with decent distance won’t struggle too much. If you find yourself at the middle or forward tees (5,811 and 4,975 yards), you’ll get an entirely different look at the course, adding plenty of replay value.

Tee Shot

The fairways are about average in width, but don’t sweat if your drive goes a little sideways. While the trees might make things interesting, they don’t come into play for most holes, allowing you to recover and possibly save par!

Approach Shots

When it’s time to hit your approach, strap on your thinking cap because those greens will require some finesse. They’re not huge (and definitely play smaller), so landing the ball requires a bit of strategy. Thankfully, the fairways offer a somewhat forgiving stance. The grass isn’t cut super tight, making it easier to get a decent shot off if you find the rough, but play it smart—navigating through the trees isn’t always an ideal option!

Greens & Surrounds

Okay, let’s get real—the greens at Majestic Oaks are where the magic happens. Not only are they filled with personality, but they also run smoothly and quickly. Many greens feature tiers or unique rolls that can catch you off guard if you’re not careful. The head pro mentioned that they were rolling at a speed of 13, and trust me, they felt every bit as quick during our round.

Greens

Most greens are defended by well-maintained bunkers that can be challenging, but if you can keep your ball away from the sand, you’re golden. Get ready for some exciting up-and-down opportunities!

Overall Design

Majestic Oaks offers a design that suits everyone. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro, you’re bound to have a blast here. There’s no overwhelming length to beat you down, yet enough challenge to make it exciting for experienced golfers. I doubt you’ll find this course to be a one-time visit; if I lived nearby, I’d grab a season pass in a heartbeat!

Favorite Holes

Let’s wrap things up by highlighting a few holes you won’t want to miss:

  1. #2 – Par 3 – 165 Yards: A stunning downhill hole with a ridge that splits the green makes the landing area a bit tricky. This par 3 is a beauty!

  2. #3 – Par 5 – 613 Yards: The longest hole plays along the lake, presenting a strategic challenge. Make sure your tee shot is on point to maximize your chances for birdie!

  3. #8 – Par 4 – 303 Yards: It’s not the shortest, but it’s the most drivable par 4. Just keep an eye on that bunker that guards the green!

Conclusion

So, there you have it! Majestic Oaks Golf Course may not be as widely known as some of its competition, but it’s definitely worth your time. With its combination of beauty, challenge, and value, you’ll find yourself eager to return again and again. Get out there and experience it for yourself!
