Leo Lukenas, a longtime caddie who had worked for 50 years, collapsed while caddying for Geoff Couch at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last year. He suffered a massive heart attack, but thanks to the quick actions of those around him, including a police officer performing CPR, he survived. Leo had been experiencing symptoms for months, but he attributed them to age and the wear and tear from his job.

After being in cardiac arrest for 30 minutes, which is usually fatal, Leo underwent quadruple bypass surgery and began a long recovery process. He retired from his position as a caddie master but still occasionally caddies for friends. Despite the challenges he faced, he is grateful for the second chance he was given and has focused on his recovery and spending time with loved ones.

The key to Leo’s survival was the quick actions of those around him, including the police officer who performed CPR and the medical staff who treated him. The support of his friends and colleagues has been instrumental in his recovery. Leo’s story is a reminder of the importance of having access to life-saving equipment like AEDs and the value of quick action in emergency situations.

Leo’s recovery and return to a somewhat normal life are a testament to his resilience and the care he received from medical professionals and loved ones. His story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Despite the challenges he faced, Leo remains grateful for the second chance he was given and is focused on living each day to the fullest.

The support and encouragement Leo received from those around him have played a significant role in his recovery. The donations made in his honor to purchase AEDs for the local community are a testament to the impact his story has had on others. Leo’s positive attitude and gratitude for the second chance he was given serve as an inspiration to all who know him.

Leo’s experiences caddying for notable figures like former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, as well as NBA star Steph Curry, provide a glimpse into his incredible career and the friendships he has formed over the years. His memories of these moments bring him joy and serve as a reminder of the fulfilling life he has lived. Despite his retirement, Leo continues to cherish these memories and the friendships he has made along the way.

In conclusion, Leo Lukenas’s miraculous recovery from a massive heart attack is a testament to the power of quick action in emergency situations and the value of life-saving equipment like AEDs. His story serves as an inspiration to all who know him, highlighting the importance of resilience, gratitude, and living each day to the fullest. Leo’s legacy as a dedicated caddie and beloved friend will live on, reminding us of the impact we can have on others and the importance of seizing every moment we are given.
