Charlie Woods, the 14-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, made headlines by winning a high school state championship, a feat that his father never accomplished during his own high school years. Competing at Florida’s state championships held at Mission Inn Resort, Charlie shot a 154 (78-76) over two days, finishing T-26 in the individual standings. His score also contributed to his team, the Benjamin School, winning the Class A title with a total of 602.

Despite Tiger Woods’ impressive amateur career, which included multiple U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur victories, he never won a high school state championship. This is because during Woods’ high school years, the California Interscholastic Federation did not hold state-wide championships. However, Woods did win his regional in 1991 and was his section’s medalist three times during high school.

Tiger and Charlie Woods have previously competed in the parent-child PNC Championship for the past three years. While the tournament has not officially confirmed their participation in this year’s event, the PNC Championship, an unofficial event affiliated with the PGA Tour, is set to begin on December 16th. Tiger Woods, who is 47 years old, has not competed since the 2023 Masters as he continues to recover from ankle surgery that took place in April.

Charlie Woods’ victory in the high school state championship adds another chapter to the Woods family’s golf legacy. Tiger Woods, known for his dominance in professional golf, has made a successful transition to his role as a father and mentor to his son Charlie, who is showing promise as a young golfer. Charlie’s success at a young age has sparked interest and excitement in the golf community, drawing attention to his potential future in the sport.

As the son of one of the greatest golfers in history, Charlie Woods is following in his father’s footsteps while also creating his own path in the sport. The Woods family’s influence in golf is undeniable, with Tiger’s impact on the game being felt worldwide. Charlie’s achievement in winning a state championship at such a young age highlights his talent and dedication to the sport, setting the stage for a potentially successful golf career ahead.

The Woods family’s presence in the golf world extends beyond competition, with Tiger and Charlie often seen supporting each other both on and off the course. Their participation in events like the PNC Championship showcases their bond as father and son, as well as their shared passion for the game of golf. The duo’s involvement in tournaments and events further cements their status as key figures in the golfing community, inspiring fans and aspiring golfers alike.

Looking ahead, Charlie Woods’ success on the golf course serves as a reminder of the Woods family’s lasting impact on the sport. As he continues to hone his skills and develop as a player, the golf world eagerly anticipates what the future holds for this young talent. With the guidance and support of his father Tiger Woods, Charlie has the potential to make a name for himself in the world of golf, building upon the legacy of one of the greatest players to ever grace the sport.
