Min Woo Lee, also known as “Chef,” had a remarkable second round at the 2024 PGA Championship after a disappointing start in the opening round. His round of 66 was highlighted by three chip-ins for birdie, showcasing his skill with the wedges. After his round, Lee put together a video compilation of his hole outs on the 12th, 16th, and second holes, impressively editing the footage himself.

During the round, Lee humorously gave himself the nickname “Dr. Chipinski” to celebrate his successful chip-ins. He credited his improved performance to his wedges, acknowledging that they played a crucial role in his lower score. Lee expressed gratitude for the confidence boost the chip-ins provided, especially after a recent spell of lackluster performances around the greens.

Among the three chip-ins, Lee highlighted his shot on the 16th hole as his favorite, describing it as a challenging shot from deep rough that ended up going in. Despite the exciting chip-ins, Lee recognized the need for better iron play to climb up the leaderboard. He currently sits at T-29, eight shots behind the leader, Xander Schauffele.

Reflecting on his overall performance, Lee acknowledged that while the chip-ins were a significant factor in his improved score, his iron play still needs refinement. He emphasized the importance of focusing on his iron shots to continue making progress in the tournament. Despite the entertaining nature of his chip-ins, Lee is committed to honing his iron play to secure a better position in the competition.

As Lee looks ahead to the remaining rounds of the PGA Championship, he remains optimistic about his prospects but recognizes the need for consistent performance across all aspects of his game. He is determined to fine-tune his iron play and maintain a high level of focus to maximize his chances of success. With a strong foundation in his wedge game, Lee aims to build on his recent successes and continue to deliver impressive performances on the course.

Overall, Min Woo Lee’s second-round performance at the 2024 PGA Championship showcased his skill and creativity on the course. His ability to capitalize on challenging situations with his wedge play demonstrated his resilience and determination to succeed at the highest level of competition. While the chip-ins provided a memorable highlight, Lee remains focused on refining his iron play and improving his overall game to position himself for a strong finish in the tournament. With his positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement, Lee is poised to make a significant impact in the remaining rounds of the championship.
