Justin Rose has the opportunity to tie an obscure PGA Championship record at Valhalla on Sunday

Justin Rose, a 43-year-old English golfer, has been making waves in the golf world in recent years despite not always being in the spotlight. He had some notable successes, such as winning at Pebble Beach in 2023 and playing on the European Ryder Cup team, but his play this year has been inconsistent, with only one top-25 finish in 10 starts on the PGA Tour. However, his performance at the 2024 PGA Championship caught the attention of many as he put together a remarkable 64 in the third round.

Rose’s 64 was overshadowed by Shane Lowry’s 62 in the same group, but it still moved him closer to the leaders heading into the final round. Despite being three shots back, he has a 1.5 percent chance of winning according to Datagolf but a 57.4 percent chance for a top-10 finish, which would continue his streak of success at the PGA Championship. In the last four championships, Rose has finished no worse than T-13.

If Rose can secure another top-15 finish at the 2024 PGA Championship, it would mark his fifth straight top-15 finish in the major, a feat accomplished by only two other players in the last 40 years. Additionally, Rose has achieved this success after turning 40, matching a record set by Sam Snead in the 1950s and 1960s. Despite the focus on his consistency, Rose is determined to go for the win on Sunday and add another major title to his resume.

Rose’s success at this stage of his career is motivating him to continue working hard and striving for more opportunities to compete at the highest level in majors. He views the end of his career as a chance to have an “Indian summer” and potentially secure one or two more major victories. The 2013 U.S. Open champion believes in himself and his ability to perform well on the big stages, which is what continues to drive him forward in his career.

As Rose prepares for the final round of the 2024 PGA Championship, he is focused on making the most of the opportunity and showing that he still has what it takes to compete with the best in the game. Despite the odds stacked against him, Rose remains determined to give it his all and possibly add another major title to his collection. With his recent success and unwavering belief in himself, Rose is poised to continue making an impact in the world of golf for years to come.
