Adam Sandler, Bad Bunny, and Travis Kelce to star in upcoming sequel to ‘Happy Gilmore’

The classic 1996 Adam Sandler comedy “Happy Gilmore” is making a comeback with a much-anticipated sequel in the works. The film, which will be released on Netflix, has already lined up an impressive all-star cast that includes Sandler himself along with his co-stars Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, who will be reprising their roles from the original film. Bowen played Virginia Venit, a PGA Tour publicist and love interest for Happy, while McDonald portrayed the arrogant pro golfer Shooter McGavin who tries to sabotage Happy’s success out of envy.

Also part of the original cast was Carl Weathers, who unfortunately passed away in February. Other familiar faces such as Bob Barker, Joe Flaherty, and Lee Trevino also made appearances in the cult classic film. The sequel will be directed by Kyle Newacheck, with Dennis Dugan, the director of the original film, serving as one of the executive producers.

The cast of the upcoming “Happy Gilmore 2” has been revealed, with Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald confirmed to reprise their roles as Virginia Venit and Shooter McGavin, respectively. In addition, Grammy-winning reggaeton artist Bad Bunny is set to join the cast in an unspecified role. Fans can also look forward to a potential cameo by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is expanding his horizons into the world of acting.

Adam Sandler has expressed his desire to involve more familiar faces in the sequel, such as comedian Drew Carey, following the passing of some original cast members like Bob Barker, Carl Weathers, and Joe Flaherty. Sandler has fond memories of working with these actors and wants to pay tribute to their contributions to the first film by finding ways to incorporate them into the sequel.

While the release date for “Happy Gilmore 2” has not yet been announced, it is clear that both Sandler and his co-writer Tim Herlihy have been busy crafting the script for the highly anticipated sequel since February. Fans can expect to see the same blend of humor, heart, and golf antics that made the original film a beloved classic. With an exciting cast lineup and the promise of more familiar faces to come, “Happy Gilmore 2” is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the original film and newcomers alike.
