David and Lynn Townsend, of David Lynn Photography, were capturing images for a charity golf tournament outside Denver when they noticed a group of bobcats playing with golf balls on the 13th hole at Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, Colorado. The duo quickly switched their camera lenses and captured stunning photos of the playful bobcats in action. The unexpected encounter was documented by Landon Haaf of Denver7.com, showcasing the unique wildlife that can be found in the area.

Arrowhead Golf Club is home to a “healthy” population of bobcats, with at least nine cats and two dens located on the property. In addition to bobcats, the surrounding area is also home to mountain lions, a bear and her two cubs, deer, and foxes. The club’s assistant GM, Kenny Windey, explained that the presence of these diverse wildlife species is due to the club’s proximity to Roxborough State Park, a vast open space that provides a natural habitat for a variety of animals.

Despite the close proximity of wildlife to the golf course, Arrowhead Golf Club ensures that guests are aware of the importance of respecting the animals’ natural habitat. The club advises guests to keep a safe distance from the wildlife and to let them be, as they are wild animals that should not be disturbed. The random interactions between wildlife and golfers add to the unique experience of playing golf at Arrowhead, where sightings of various animals are not uncommon.

In addition to the wildlife encounters, Arrowhead Golf Club offers a challenging and scenic golf course, making it a popular destination for golf enthusiasts in Colorado. The club’s stunning views and well-maintained course have earned it a spot on Golfweek’s list of the Best public-access and private golf courses in Colorado. With its combination of natural beauty and exceptional golfing experience, Arrowhead Golf Club continues to attract both local and visiting golfers looking for a unique and memorable round of golf.

Overall, David and Lynn Townsend’s experience capturing images of the playful bobcats at Arrowhead Golf Club highlights the natural beauty and wildlife diversity that can be found in Colorado. The club’s commitment to preserving the natural habitat of the animals while providing an exceptional golfing experience for guests showcases the balance between conservation and recreation. As one of the premier golf courses in the state, Arrowhead Golf Club offers not only a challenging round of golf but also an opportunity to connect with nature and observe the beauty of Colorado’s wildlife in its natural environment.
